Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

  1. Can I ask any question?
    There are two conditions:
    (a) You want to know the answer.
    (b) You have tried to find an answer for at least fifteen minutes.

  2. What do I do if I don't understand your answer?
When you ask a question, we will start a dialogue. If you are content with our answer you close the dialogue. If you are not, you ask a follow-up question we will answer, and so on. All questions you ask, along with their dialogues, are saved. You can return to them and read them any time you like.

  3. Can I ask a question on any topic?
Absolutely! Ask for software support, hardware support, help with your math homework, how to teach algebra, how to create a blog, how to design a web page, how to program in MS Excel, ... But don't limit yourself to questions on computers, learning, and teaching. Ask about anything that's on your mind! I will do my best to help you. If I can't answer I will try to point you in the right direction.

  4. If I don't think the answer is good, I don't pay anything?
That is correct. If you for any reason don't think the answer is good, you don't pay anything with no questions asked. I believe you should only pay for what the answer is worth and that you are the best judge to decide its value.

  5. Can I pay less than the amount I gave when I started the question?
If you think the answer is partly good, pay nothing or a smaller amount. It is entirely up to you. There are no questions asked.

  6. How do I pay for a good answer?
    Please visit the Cost page.

  7. Can other users see my question?
No, they can't. Only you can see the question you post and the dialogue that follows.

  8. Can I ask a new question before the present one is answered?
Yes. Ask as many questions as you like at any time.

  9. I have several questions. Should I ask them all at one go or split them up?
Keep them together if they are closely related, if not split them up.

  10. What happens to questions that are answered and that I do not reply to or close?
You are encouraged to reply to or close all questions. At our discretion we may close answered questions after four weeks.

  11. Can I reopen a question that is closed?
Yes. Select the question and click 'Reopen question'.

  12. How do I upload images to go with my question?
