OpenOffice.org Calc is the spreadsheet component of the OpenOffice.org software package.

Calc is similar to Microsoft Excel, with a roughly equivalent range of features. Calc is capable of opening and saving most spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel file format. It provides a number of features not present in Excel, including a system that automatically defines series for graphing based on the layout of the user’s data. Calc is also capable of writing spreadsheets directly as PDF files. – Wikipedia

Note
If cell A1 has range name “acid” and in cell B2 you type “=” and click on A1, what formula will B2 have?
In Calc “=A1″, but in Excel “=acid”. The latter is, of course, the best.

How do I print just some rows?
1. Select the rows.
2. Click Print on the File menu.
3. Click Selected cells in the window that opens.
4. Click OK.

Query
To find ‘red’ as part of a field go to Tools – Options – OpenOffice.org Calc – Calculate and uncheck ‘Search criteria = and <> must apply to whole cells’. Then just type ‘red’ (without the quotes in a cell as criteria) and all rows with red anywhere in that field will be returned by the query.
