Example of embedded slide show:

Slide master

Every slide is based on a slide master. To edit a slide master first click View – Master – Slide Master. In the task pane on the right select a slide master under Master Pages. It will appear in the slide pane on the left where you click it to edit it.

A slide master has five areas: Title, Object, Date, Footer, and Slide Number. If the slide master needs a header, click the T on the drawing toolbar to insert a text box.

Format the title as IGCSE asks you to format the subheading. Format the object as IGCSE asks you to format the bullleted list. IGCSE will also ask you to format the heading. That you have to do on the title slide. It can not be done in the slide master.

Everything you add to the slide master, text, background, images, and their formatting will appear on each slide that uses it with two exceptions: text you type in the title and in the object area will not appear, but its formatting will.

To set the background click Format – Page – Background – Fill. To set a colour as part of the background use the Rectangle object and send it to back (right-click – Arrange – Send to back).

Slide
To insert a slide, close the master view if it is open. Click Insert – Slide. Select a master slide on the right (for IGCSE one master slide is enough) and then a slide layout under Layout. Whatever you type in the title area will receive the formatting you gave the title area in the master slide. The same is the case for the object area (called text in the slide layouts). You are free to add objects and change the layout, but this is not needed if you design appropriate master slides.

Image
Go to Google’s image search to find suitable images. Select Clipart instead of Any Type to only find clipart. Copy and paste them into your slide. Keep the Shift key down when you resize images to preserve their aspect ratio.

Line
Use the drawing toolbar to insert a line. Right-click it and choose Line to format it. Lines and other objects can be moved around the screen using the mouse or the arrow keys.

Custom animation
To get each bullet point to appear one at a time select the text of the first bullet point, click Add under Modify Effect under Custom Animation in the task pane. Choose Box and click OK. Change Start to After previous and repeat the same for the other bullet points.

Slide transition
Select all the slides in the slide pane on the left. Click Slide transition in the task pane on the right. Select transition, e.g. Wheel Clockwise, 8 spokes, and click Apply to all slides.

Slide number
With the master slide open click View – Header and Footer – check Slide number – Apply to All.
