Get friends, get inspired, get your questions answered. For all this, and more, join or start a dialogue at:
Google Groups at http://groups.google.com/ has thousands of news groups and 800 million messages. Here are some newsgroups you may try:
Once you have found a group you like, you can post questions to the group, answer questions, or just read the exchange of ideas. To search in a specific group, follow the key words by 'group: name-of-group'. Example: to search for 'constant' in the group k12.ed.math, type 'constant group:k12.ed.math' in the search box. Electronic mailing lists allow many users to participate in a "group" email discussion. The principle is simple: each message submitted to a mailing list is forwarded to all the people who are subscribed to the list. These sites have information about lists that relate to mathematics education:
To find a list that discusses your favourite topic, you may also try a search at www.liszt.com/. One example of a mailing list:
You can discuss math education live on the net. Enter a chat room, say who you are and throw yourself into the discussion typing your thoughts and reactions. You can search for suitable chat rooms at Liszt www.liszt.com/. If you search for "math" about eight rooms are listed. On Dalnet, #math is a friendly room to visit. I have not found any rooms for math education yet. If you can't find a room for your special interest, you can arrange with your friends to meet in your own room for a chat. To reach chat rooms not attached to sites you need a chat program. The popular mIRC can be downloaded from www.mirc.co.uk. Reactions: This space is for your reactions to the thoughts above. Send an e-mail to Mum.
